Voor de 4e keer zullen de levende beelden optreden tijdens het invallen van de nacht en dat levert verrassende, sprookjesachtige, mysterieuze en ook mooie plaatjes op. Locatie? Wordt later bekend gemaakt.

World Statues Festival Arnhem

Van 12.00 tot 18.00 uur vindt de 8e editie van het Wereldkampioenschap voor levende standbeelden plaats in het centrum van Arnhem, met ruim 200 deelnemende kinderen, amateurs en professionals.

Preliminary rounds

World Statues Festival is the biggest festival for living statues in the world. With a Dutch competition for kids and amateurs and a World Championship for professional living statues. It is the championship of championships in the world of living statues. This means we are always looking for the best performances and try to co-operate with as much national competitions as possible. For 2011 we will present the Honduran champion, the Ukrainian champion, the Portuguese champion, the Belgian champion and of course the Dutch champion. More info about these winners and pictures of their act will soon be found here.

Definition

This form of art involves a life performance. The artistic discipline requires mastery of suspended motion. By toying with notions as animated nature and  stone-still sculpture, a Living Statue seeks to confuse or astonish the audience. Brief moments of motion are allowed, when purposefully chosen as an integral part of the act.

A Living Statue may consist of one, or of several performers. They are the essential core of the statue or tableau. Attributes and surroundings may be the necessary completion.

Besides fine food and drinks by our appointed World Statues Caterers, the content of this meeting will be provided by contributors of the World Statues Forum, the artistic director and his choice of relevant speakers.
